i drove to have

Brittany do my hair in San Marcos yesterday morning.  It was a rushed drive that gave me a headache but I was only 45 minutes late.  On my way home I was stopped by a train in Luling.  I halfway wanted to stop at this place.  I wasn't really hungry but I was just curious.
photo-a-day, day 116

I finally had my breakfast.  My usual breakfast phases are peanut butter toast, oatmeal and egg sandwiches.  Not together, but rotating.  For the last couple of weeks I've been on a cinnamon toast kick.  I had to stop and make it before it was technically too late for breakfast and I missed out.  I didn't have any yesterday and I didn't want that to happen again.
photo-a-day, day 117

Note:  I was so discombobulated with that last post, I didn't even put the day number.  If I were to have a seasonal theme going on it would definitely be discombobulated.

Another note:  I chose not to take my pictures with my camera because the cord to my card reader left the house attached to Eric's friend's video camera.  Hopefully I'll get it back today.

i posted on

April 21st to note how bad I've been and needing to catch up.  I also forgot to post something...

HAPPY SAN JACINTO DAY!

Yes, I forgot to do a San Jacinto Day post.  I can't believe that.  Oh, but even more than that, I can't believe I didn't to a post for something else...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LAUREN!

I already covered the old pictures so I guess I need to come up with something else now.  A few years ago I believe it was Lauren's birthday when I started the picture-posting birthday acknowledgement.  Maybe I'll start this year on Lauren's birthday with a lack of acknowledgement.  I don't know, that's probably not the best idea.  Although I didn't post on the blog, I did post on her Facebook wall, call her later to make sure she saw it since she never said anything about what I thought was a funny ecard, buy her a birthday card a week earlier that I still haven't mailed and sent part of a birthday present up to her yesterday.  I'm not a total failure when it comes to her birthday.

Since I haven't done a photo-a-day, I'll go ahead and post one.  It's my picture for Lauren's ID on my phone and one of my favorites of her.
photo-a-day, day 115

in an attempt to

make improvements, I went to Academy and bought a couple of things.  We'll see how it works out... the frequency of their use, not the result of their use.
photo-a-day, day 113

Since it's Easter, Eric was loaded down with candy.  His favorite is Reese's so when I saw a peanut butter-filled bunny, I had to get it.  Happy Reester.  He let me have a bite and it was as good as I imagined it would be.
photo-a-day, day 114

and, here we

go...

Thursday, April 14 was a crazy day so I'm giving you a picture of Eric warming up at the talent show from Friday night
photo-a-day, day 104

Eric was awesome at the talent show.  He did great!
photo-a-day, day 105

Saturday morning was the San Jacinto Parade in West Columbia.
photo-a-day, day 106

Sunday was our walk at Memorial Park.
photo-a-day, day 107

Monday was all about chilling out and relaxing after a crazy and stressful few weeks.
photo-a-day, day 108

Tuesday was all about running around taking care of errands that were neglected during the chaos so I'm posting a snail.
photo-a-day, day 109

Wednesday is another shot of the talent show because it was that good.
photo-a-day, day 110

Thursday is from my neighborhood walk.  I realized yesterday that Memorial Park must have me spoiled because their trail doesn't make my shins hurt like these harsh sidewalks do.  Also, I don't feel obligated to wave and greet at Memorial Park... always a plus for the anti-social.
photo-a-day, day 111

And again, because he was that good, another picture of the talent show.  This time it's Eric's solo.
photo-a-day, day 112

wow.

That's all I can say is WOW.  I better get busy taking care of business.  I think I've recovered from all the chaos from the last few weeks.

there's a recipe i've

wanted to try for a while but never got around to it.  It finally happened today.  I worried at first because the dough was pretty firm and I just knew it was going to flop.  I decided not to throw it out and let it sit and rise for about four hours.
Forty five minutes later, voila!
If I were to change anything, I'd probably go a little easier on the thyme and throw in some garlic.  For the most part, it's good.  I started to worry after reading a few reviews but I think it's going to work.
photo-a-day, day 103

is this week almost

over?  Unfortunately for me, the end of this week is what's getting my nerves all worked up.  I'm behind a few days and this gets me caught up to yesterday.  To catch up on my photo-a-day, I'll explain like this.

Saturday was a day to get ready for Sunday.  Like the way I hem a hoop skirt?  Safety pins to the rescue.
photo-a-day, day 99

Sunday was the main event for Belle of the Brazos.
photo-a-day, day 100

Monday was all about the MG and by 9:00 a.m. I was wanting to go back to bed and calling for a do-over.
photo-a-day, day 101

One picture describes Tuesday.  The fact that my phone did a bad job of focusing in on anything makes it near perfect.  Oh, the winner was Tylenol.  The whole "Rapid Release Gels" won me over.  Just a fun little fact, about a month ago I had Tylenol for a few days in a row but got nervous when I saw something on tv connecting it to E.D.  Oh no, that's just what I need on top of the assortment of ailments my genes have coming my way.  Luckily, after a little research, I found out I won't be getting E.D. no matter how much Tylenol I take.
photo-a-day, day 102

Today is Wednesday and I'm going to enjoy it because tomorrow, Friday and Saturday are really going to be hectic.  Calgon, take me away.

the last couple of days

and the next few days will be a little crazy.  We've been pretty busy.  The last couple of days for me have looked like this
photo-a-day, day 96

I'm trying to do last minute things to complete a belle costume for the San Jacinto Festival and make a fan that a southern belle might carry out of these flowers and ribbons for Sunday's event.  As hideous that sounds and is, I'm trying to make it not so much.  Once that's done, I'll figure out how to decorate the MG with flowers and tulle for next Saturday's parade.
photo-a-day, day 97

In the meantime, I'm thawing shrimp, baked a cake and made almond buttercream frosting.
photo-a-day, day 98

Once the cake cools and gets frosted, I'll clear that mess out of the way and make tortillas for tonight's grilled shrimp and stuffed peppers... and tomorrow's breakfast tacos.

96, 97 & 98 will

come.  I've been a little busy but I know I'll catch up.  It'll probably be today and it'll probably come from my phone.

over the weekend we

had a piece of tres leches.  I like it at Ninfa's on Navigation because I'm pretty sure it's a creamy marshmallow mixture they spread on top but then they take a pastry torch to it.  It's awesome.  Add that to the list of reasons why I need to get one of these things.  I wonder if the one in the garage used for other stuff would work the same...  I guess I'll have to research.
photo-a-day, day 94

Strat and Lucille got comfortable after we all found our spots in the living room yesterday evening.
photo-a-day, day 95

I got a video of Lucille but it's sideways.  It's nothing spectacular, just showing the typical evening of an overworked cat.  If you want to tilt your head, you can see it here.

i had to get a

picture of this screen from one of the aptitude tests Eric had to take.
photo-a-day, day 93

I'm not giving his answer and I'm allowing one guess, one guess only.

on my thursday

outing, I also saw these birds
and these cows.  What I like about this picture of the cows is not how the two are looking at me but how the other one has his tongue stuck up his nose.  Kleenex, anyone?
photo-a-day, day 92

yesterday i did something

I haven't done in a long time.  I dropped Eric off and then went for a drive with my camera.  Now I'm ready for more and am hoping to go downtown Saturday or Sunday.
photo-a-day, day 91

In other news, the playing of Taps is in order.  I lost a great pair of jeans from excessive wear.  They were a good pair of jeans.  Once the hole in the knee formed, I quit wearing them in public... except that one time to get donuts and I felt like a rebel, oh, and a trip to Bucee's too.  They acquired another hole that I was avoiding but checked myself every time I went out to do yard work.  It's too much now, it's grown.  It's not too revealing but it's also not 1988.  I could keep my jeans if I wanted a pair of short shorts but that's totally not how I roll.  I took a picture to post but don't worry, it's only the knee hole.
