a stomach bug

hit Friday night.  It hit several of us but didn't last very long.  I walked down to get the newspaper this morning and once I got back, I started not to feel so well.  It might have been the heat or the Off I was covered in but thinking a can of Diet Dr. Pepper was not the answer.  That whole "starting not to feel so well" turned into UGH...  The Dr. Pepper did me in.  I should have had Coke.  Right now I'm drinking ginger ale but it's not my usual brand.  I'm a Canada Dry girl but I bought Seagrams because it was on sale.  I hope it does the trick but next time I'll stick with Canada Dry.

Here's a picture I took out on the back porch in Brazoria yesterday.  I couldn't get the hummingbirds at the flowers or their feeder so I settled for the strand of lights.

yesterday i picked

Mom up and we went to the beach because she wanted to go walking.  She walked and I took pictures.  We left Surfside Beach and drove over to Quintana Beach.  After Quintana, we drove to Sargent Beach.  Our day involved beaches, fried shrimp at a surf shack and a lot of driving.  These pictures are from Surfside.
Not my footprints.  They could be Mom's but I honestly don't know..
I didn't see this rose at first.  The first thing I saw was the rest of the bouquet towards the upper left of this pic.
By looking at these, you'd think I all of a sudden have a thing for tilting the camera.  That's not the case.  I was trying to be careful and keep my camera safe.  Did I mention I got a new one for my birthday?

the birthday

celebrations have come to an end.  I had fun and I got a lot of good gifts.  As I mentioned before, one of my gifts was a new camera.  Cosme took my old camera and I'm hoping I might have a partner in crime.  As most people know, I like to go driving around with my camera and just look for things.  That's what we did last night.  It got dark not long after we started so we didn't get to stay out long.  That'll be really awesome if he picks up on photography and enjoys it.  It'd be nice to have someone to go along with me.  Speaking of which, I'm about to leave because Mom called last night asking if I'd go to the beach with her this morning so she could walk and I could take pictures.  Here's one from last night's drive.
Also on the agenda today is getting the correct nasal decongestant.  I bought the wrong stuff last night and not only is it only 10 mg instead of 30 but it's 10 mg of an ingredient that doesn't work.  Note to self: buy pseudoephedrine, NOT phenylephrine.  (I knew it started with a P.)  I took one anyway, hoping it'll at least make me think I don't have a horrible sinus headache.  On the plus side, it shouldn't make me drowsy.

i don't really

understand Blogger.  One minute I've posted too many pictures and the next it's all fine.  Whatever.

I know this isn't a good picture.  The dog is too dark, the background is too bright.  It's all good though.  I'm just going through my card before I insert it into the new camera.  What???  Oh yeah.  Happy birthday to me.

i took pics

at a bed and breakfast in East Columbia yesterday for a style show.  East Columbia is pretty cool.  It has several historical markers out there along with old houses and ghost stories.  Like I said, it's pretty cool.  One of these old houses has been turned into a bed and breakfast, the Aycock Crews House Bed and Breakfast.  After the style show, I walked around and took a few pics of nooks I thought would be awesome for portraits.  This was my favorite spot.  There's nothing special about this picture but the chair, window and light are a great combo.

I would show you another spot but once again, I've run out of space.

Here we go again...

there are no

words for today, just grunts and groans.  While we had Thursday and Friday to set up, we only had a few hours to pack up.  It was EXHAUSTING and my feet were crying.  Do I really need to say anything about how tired I am or how much cleaning I need to do after being "gone" for 3.5 days?  I've been catching up on dvr stuff this morning and of course, The Pioneer Woman was in that mix.  So not only do I have a craving for sloppy joe's and carrot cake but guess what else... That's right.  In the middle of it all, I thought I heard something so I hit pause.  Sure enough, it was raining again but I was also left with this image

That's it for now.

the odd thing is

that while I was uploading this picture, there was a commercial for Madame Butterfly.  Sure, it's odd because it's a butterfly but it's also odd because my name on certain forums and things is Madame.  See? Madame Butterfly. Odd, right?
Yesterday Mom and I were running errands and getting ready for the Metropolitan Cooking Show.  We pulled up at the house and this butterfly was right there in all the flowers.  Because there were so many colors, I had to run a color pop action.  I have mixed feelings about actions.  Sometimes I think they're overused and at times they're so overdone it hurts my eyes.  In this case, I didn't care.  I did it.  How you like me now?

Speaking of the cooking show, set up starts today.  I hope the rest of the set up and show go as well and easily as things went yesterday.  Just thinking of the next few days wears me out though.  Mom and I have from 12-6 today and 8-5 tomorrow to set up.  If it's the same as last year, there won't be air conditioning today... which will go nicely with us already being wet from all the rain.  The show starts at 10am Saturday but we'll have help coming later.  Saturday and Sunday will be spent working the show and standing all day.  I think it'll be wise to pack ibuprofen.  On that note, it's already 8:00 and the work isn't going to get done on its own.

a while back i

hit pause on the remote and I noticed a crazed cat looking like he wanted to jump out of my screen.  I took a picture of it.  A few days later I hit pause again and this time it was a crazy expression on some man that looked a little creepy.  What I'm getting at here is not that I probably abuse my pause button (which I actually do) but when I hit pause, I have unintentionally stopped on some crazy stuff.  I was taking pictures of it all just so I could show anyone needing to see.  I ended up deleting those pictures for one reason or another and can't show any of those crazy things.  But guess what.  I've started again and now I've decided I'll share them here.  Rule number one, don't judge my taste in television.

As much as I don't want to admit it, I do watch The Pioneer Woman.  Is she for real?  I don't know and I don't care.  I like to see her recipes.  I'm not going to contribute by buying her romance novels or kids story books but I will watch the cooking show (and buy the cookbook for a discounted price at Costco).  Are they her original recipes?  I doubt it and I don't really care.  Anyway, I was watching her show the other day and needed to hit pause to put up laundry or something.  This is where it stopped.
Yikes.  That's not really the expression you want to promote your recipes and convince everyone they taste good.

Another one is from watching Dance Moms.  Mom was over and we were catching up on our high drama, high quality programming until she needed to use the phone.  I hit pause.  It didn't look like much until I noticed Abby Lee Miller's face in the upper left hand corner.
Another yikes.  I can't even type the sounds this reminds me of.  I just imagine way too many cartoon characters.

Maybe I need to come up with a title for postings of this little hobby of mine.

if anyone wants to

spend $11.99 on me for a birthday present, which is next week, you may do so here.
BlueQ Lux Crossbody Bag
I've already gone through the trouble of picking out the pattern I prefer.

hi there, remember

me?  I didn't think so.  I've decided to slowly make my way back to this blog.  I haven't really felt like doing it.  So I haven't.  I was irritated because I couldn't post a picture a while back so I was taking a break.  I realized I could post a picture but then I was already out of my routine.  Now I'm going to try and get back on this bike.  For now I need to share something.  I never go to Jack in the Box but when I do I get their tacos.  The other day we stopped and I saw this sandwich on the menu.

It's my favorite.  I love this sandwich.  I could eat it every other day.  It's that good.  There isn't one thing I'd change.  Salami, ham and turkey?  It's basically the cold cut trio from Subway (yum).  Provolone? YUM.  Pickle? Kosher and warm... YUM.  Italian dressing? YUM.  Now go try it for yourself.
