so let's talk about those

green onions I stuck in that pot.  Remember how I said they were thriving about a month ago?  What's a step up from thriving?  Booming?  Yeah, we'll go with booming.  Just take a look at these booming beauts.

And in case you can't remember what they looked like when I stuck them in the pot, here's this to make things easier.

I might have a partial green thumb after all.  Anyone need any green onion?

We went to Shipley this morning.  Shipley is across the street from O'Reilly.  A certain song pops into my head sometimes when I'm waiting on donuts and today I realized why.  I pulled into the O'Reilly parking lot to get a picture.  Do you see it?

You won't be able to unsee it once you do.  In case you don't see it...

And why is that the second reference to The Who that I've made in two days?  Time to change the radio station.

I need to do my photo challenge.  Today is favorite belonging.  I don't have a favorite belonging.  That's way too broad.  It really depends on what I'm doing.  I have a lot of "favorites" but then it's like I told Cosme, I'm too indecisive to have a favorite anything.  I have a favorite knife for cutting strawberries but that's not my favorite knife for cutting onion.  I have a favorite candle for the kitchen but that's not my favorite for the bathroom.  I have a favorite pair of shoes for when I need brown shoes but it's not the same as my favorite black shoes.  This is too difficult.  I think I'll just take a picture of my camera.  It's late and I have too much stuff to play favorites.

I'm going to go get my picture and try to get The Who out of my head.  And speaking of having favorites, songs by The Who don't make any of those lists.

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo

announced their lineup.  A lot of people are unhappy with the performer for Black Heritage Day because they haven't heard of him.  Some are complaining that he's not well known and just like one person commented, there was this guy one year who had to fill in at the last minute and he was a nobody.  I wonder.  Does anyone know what ever became of that guy George Strait?  Anyway, back to the performer for BHD.  When everyone started complaining, I had to look him up.  He's not a nobody.  He's from Fort Worth, he's been nominated for a Grammy and he's pretty good.  Here's one of his videos.

Enough about that.  I've got a lot of running around to do this morning.  I'm hoping to be home before the rain gets too bad.  I already don't like shopping but I really hate shopping in the rain.  I hate getting wet and I hate my bags getting wet and I ESPECIALLY hate bringing wet bags into the house.  My plan is to be done at Kroger so I can be at Kwik Kar for an oil change when they open, which I'm thinking might be 8:00.  After that it's on to Lake Jackson, where one or two of the stores don't open until 10:00.  I think I can make this all happen.

One of the things I want to pick up from Kroger is frozen dinners.  I had a Lean Cuisine meal the other day and I liked it.  I'm not always in the mood for Chinese food but when I am, I probably don't want a frozen dinner.  Anyway, I had picked up a Lean Cuisine chicken fried rice and decided I'd try it.  I stopped by the Chinese drive-thru and picked up an egg roll to go with it.

I'd eat it again but I probably won't get another chicken fried rice this time.  Maybe I'll be daring and try something else I normally wouldn't get.  I definitely won't be daring enough to try shopping once the rain hits.  Yuck.

i just put up a

blog post from my website.  It's nothing amazing, just a few scenes from Texas.  The more I looked at it, the more I thought about the scene from Goodfellas where the helicopter is following Ray Liotta.  I guess it also doesn't help that Cosme has been watching the US Open everyday and one commercial plays every break with this song.

Anyway, here's the link to my post.

I really want to get out and get more but I don't really know which roads are open and all that.  Also, we know how I freak out around water and that has me a little terrified to get out and see it, especially alone and not knowing what I might stumble upon.  Yikes.  I was supposed to have gone on a Capture Crawl with Houston Center for Photography on August 27 but that was canceled because of flooding.  It would've been awesome too.  It was a Theater District Open House in Houston.  I was really excited about it and then flooding happened.  Figures.  I guess now I'm trying to find ways to fill that void.

Oh, Cosme's drive to work yesterday morning sucked but not nearly as bad as his drive home, where he went a few blocks in a matter of minutes... 40 minutes to be exact.  He left for work earlier today.  It sure will be nice when everything clears up and the entire city isn't limited to a few roads.  Okay, so maybe "a few" roads is an exaggeration but it sure doesn't seem like it when you're driving on them and trying to get around.  I'm so happy I need to make a trip up there tomorrow.

For now though, I'll worry about breakfast.
