eric wanted

Luby's to celebrate getting his permit so he drove us there
while I didn't drive and enjoyed gazing out the window...and taking pictures, of course.  So cool!
He had chicken fried steak with macaroni and cheese.  I think he was too excited because he only ate about half his food.  (Strange fact I just thought about: Eric will ONLY eat Luby's macaroni and cheese.)
Afterwards, we went for a ride - and were stopped by a train.

here are those

seagulls I was talking about yesterday.

I was the only person out at the beach that morning.  Let me start by saying I am terrified of water but there are times when I really like the beach.  Everything was fine.  I'd been out there for at least half an hour.  All of a sudden it hit.  I saw the line where the water had been a little earlier from the high tide, glanced at the jetties and realized all the water standing on the other side and saw I was out there all alone.  Panic hit. I grabbed my camera bag, cupped my hands around my eyes (it helps if I can't see the water and block it out) and ran.  I should mention that it wasn't easy to run and climb back up the jetty rocks with all my stuff while in flip flops, especially during panic mode.  There was one man on the jetties and I'm pretty sure he thought I had problems but I didn't care.  As soon as I got back up to the parking lot I was better.  Man.  I'm getting worked up just thinking about it.  When I got in the car I saw this one-legged seagull standing here.  I had to get a picture of him too.

see what happens

when I want to get out while everyone is at work and school?  You get pictures of me and my shoes.  I have a few more from this day but it's birds.  Since the last post was a bird, I thought I'd break it up a little.  I don't even like birds but since they're always around, I get pictures.

almost every

morning this bird sits on this thing.  Isn't he fat?  I'm sure the phrase "eats like a bird" has nothing to do with him.

eric was so

happy yesterday.  He'd been waiting for this.
Kat Von D came to Houston yesterday for a book signing.  It was fun.  We sat in line (number 6) for 7 hours.  Eric's friend caught up with us so at least he had a buddy there.  We made friends with everyone around us.  Eric bought Apples to Apples around 2:30 or 3:00.  We had a group of 5 gathered around to play, with others eventually joining in.  It was pretty funny and killed about 2 hours.  When the time finally came, I'll admit it was pretty cool.  When Eric's turn came up, Kat said, "Dude, I love your jacket" - I think that totally made his day.

if you try this

you'll never go back.  Okay, you'll probably go back but these are good too.
I've never been a fan of coconut.  Actually, I've always hated coconut.
A few years ago I tried a coconut pie from Sam's Restaurant in Fairfield.  It was good.  At that point I could handle a little coconut flavoring...and I do mean LITTLE.  Over the years I think it's grown on me, kind of like broccoli.  Don't get me wrong, coconut is nowhere near being my favorite but I tried one of these during my last hair appointment.  Oh my goodness.  They were SO good.  Now I'm trying to find these things.  Look at this next picture.
It's like a miniature coconut pie.  They're so good.  Do yourself a favor and try it if you come across one...and then have one for me too.

i've been on

vacation.  Well, on a vacation from here anyway.  I've been busy.  I've been sick.  I've been preoccupied.  Here's one of the things I was preoccupied with.Eric's birthday!  It was last weekend.  He loved his cake.  It had his strat on it.  Cute, huh?  No, I wasn't preoccupied with making the cake, just the planning.

I could go into more detail with how busy I've been but boring you to tears is not my main objective.  Simple boredom I can handle, but not the tears.

Oh, I also decided I'm going to register at the Glassell for the summer semester.   I wanted to do it for spring but I decided this the day before classes started.  Oh well...  I really enjoyed it years ago and I'm sure it will be just as good now.  I'm pretty excited... stoked to be exact.

Now I'm off.  There are beds to be made, laundry to be done, books to be read, pictures to be made and songs to be downloaded.  Have a nice day.

back to

Segovia.  These are the last three I'll post.  The first one is some bone I found on the ground.
This is a little coyote/fox thing we came across during our walk.  Actually, this coyote/fox thing made it the end of our walk.

i guess i've

always loved photographs.  I've been deconstructing old photo albums and dividing the pictures up.  I think it's funny how, in the process of taking them apart, I found a picture of myself going through some of the same albums 30 years ago.
Now it's time for old photo posts.  Lauren's still the victim but I'll go ahead and add Jake too.  Aw, how sweet.  He's cleaning the food off her face.
Here they are with Dodo.  I just wanted to put this up since Lauren's cheesing it up pretty hard.  It looks like Jake probably wanted to be in the picture as much as he would today.
Oh well, I'm off to rummage through more pictures.  Keep your fingers crossed... you could be next!

a couple of

cacti close ups for today.

Now I'm off.  There's housework to be done.

i keep posting

pictures but I guess I should let you know we were in Segovia so Cosme and Eric could hunt with Dad.  There was a lot of this during the day...
driving back and forth between the hotel and the property's trailer.  Hey!  Eric better keep those eyes on the road!  I guess you can call it a road.  It's more of a gravel path.  Still, have no fear because this isn't his first rodeo.  I think this is probably easier to drive than the massive Jeep he's taken on this route in the past.
The mornings and afternoons were the same with them getting ready and me hanging out in the hotel room.  I did learn how to play hearts on the computer.  woohoo.
This is the walkway at the hotel.
You can see the rv from the hotel room.
I'll post a few scenic shots tomorrow.

the shoe

in Segovia

i went for

a walk with my camera while in Segovia.  Here are three pictures for today.

back home

and ready to sleep in my own bed.  I went for a stroll and have more pictures to post but I'm way too tired right now.  I'll start tomorrow.

looks like

we're not the only ones lacking patience.

the hair,

the guitar...not much has changed in the last 10 years.

oh no...

I've started playing with one of my Christmas presents. (Yes, I know Christmas is a week away...leave me alone.) Until the thrill wears off, don't be surprised if something like this pops up.It's been a few years since I've had a scanner. I finally broke down and asked for a super-duper printer with all the frills. Well, I wasn't actually thinking about myself. Research papers are becoming more frequent and our other printer is massive and a pain in the butt. I thought I'd get this grand contraption so I could have some fun too. On that note, let the fun begin!

Oh, and don't think I'm going down alone. First victim: Lauren.

speaking of delicious...

lately I've been hooked on breakfast tacos. I've stopped several times recently at Takeria la Rosa (yes, I know taqueria isn't spelled with a K). I was in such a bad mood yesterday, I thought I'd start today off with a taco. There aren't usually a lot of cars here so I wondered if my regular order of a potato, bacon and cheese taco stands out. (I do like eggs...just not in a tortilla.) So, half embarrassed, I pulled up to the window and ordered. I got my order and pulled away. Once on the highway, I grabbed the taco out of the bag and realized they probably do recognize me by now...and appreciate my business.Once I got home I admired the smiley face and dug in. I know, you're probably thinking how a taco with potato, bacon and cheese is loaded with calories. Get over it. I did drink a DIET Dr. Pepper with it.Doesn't it look good? Their hot sauce is pretty good. I can smell the garlic in it.So as I stood in the kitchen eating my taco while dancing to the Texas Tornados on my iPod, I could tell my mood was already better.

please, if you

talk to me or write me, please...PLEASE don't use the word "delicious" unless you're referring to food. Delicious and yummy are the two most overused words lately. I'm so tired of hearing children, crafts and other "cute" things referred to as delicious and yummy. Let's join forces and stop this annoying trend. Wouldn't that be delightful?

i spy something

furry under my tree.
I don't know why the cats love sitting under the tree. They really haven't messed with it too much. I was afraid they'd try to climb it but I haven't seen anything like that...yet. As long as they stick to chilling under the tree, I'll be okay.

i don't like

snow. One of the things I like about this area is that it only snows once every few years. Guess what. It started snowing this afternoon. This right here is fine, as long as it doesn't keep up much longer.
Check out the little planter on the bottom right corner of the picture. That's my basil and thyme...wait, that was my basil and thyme.

does the cold

weather make everyone's sense of style go out the window or is it just me?

It started with my pastel colored gown. I was chilly so I added Cosme's plaid shirt. My legs needed some cover so I threw on a pair of jeans. Cosme was running a little late so I went outside to get his truck going. Ouch, that wind hurt. I grabbed Eric's jacket next. I continued on with my morning routine and stopped for a minute to realize what all I was wearing. (At this point I had already taken off my black flats.) Not only did it not match but only half of it was mine. Just think, I actually considered wearing this to take Eric to school.
